Halloween Safety Tips From the Folsom Police Department

October 27th, 2017 by

Planning on taking the kids trick-or-treating this Halloween? The Folsom Police Department has some safety tips for you and your young ones ahead of this popular holiday.

Make a Plan: Plan your route ahead of time and discuss expectations for behavior before you leave the house. Designate a meeting spot in case you and your child get separated, and set a time for older kids to return home.

Be Seen; Be Safe: Wear light or brightly colored costumes. Consider adding reflective tape to the costumes and bags for enhanced visibility. Each child should carry a flashlight with fresh batteries and/or a glow stick to use after dark.

Candy Check: Check all candy before your child is allowed to eat any of it. Discard items with loose or damaged wrappers. Do not eat homemade treats unless you know and trust the person.

Safe at Home: Don’t open the door for anyone who makes you feel uncomfortable and never let strangers inside your home.

If you see suspicious activity, report it to the Folsom Police Department at (916) 355-7231.
