Media Group Names 370Z “Best Performance Roadster”
The Southern Automotive Media Association named Nissan’s 370Z the “Best Performance Roadster” during the group’s annual “Topless in Miami” event. Nissan’s slick roadster beat out more than two dozen other vehicles for the honor.
The choice was obvious, according to SAMA officials.
“Since it returned to the market over a decade ago, the 370Z has been a fine example of what a sports car is all about – comfort, fun, and an exhilarating driving performance in one package,” said Jaime Florez, SAMA . “It is always a popular entry among our members, who have recognized it as best in its class twice in the seven years of competition.”
The 370Z is powered by a 332-horsepower 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine and offers responsive handling thanks to four-wheel independent suspension. Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL) pairs with a choice of either an electronically controlled seven-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching (DRM) and standard paddle shifters or a six-speed close-ratio manual transmission.
The 370Z earned high marks for its styling, its quietness, and its performance. Judges also heaped praise on the ease of its convertible top operation.
